5 STUDENTS HURT IN CAVITE ROAD CRASH INVOLVING A PNP PERSONNEL

Camp Bgen Vicente Lim, Calamba City – Five students were hurt following a road crash in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite Friday evening.

The victims were udentified as Mark Christian Merillo, 16 years old; Elijah Empas, 18 years old; Hazel May Peñaflorida, 15 years old; Princess Sarah Arao, 15 years old, and Lea Cortez, 15 years old. All 5 victims are residents of GMA, Cavite.

According to the police report, at about 6:15 PM of September 2, a Nissan Urvan with plate number AAQ-4143 was being driven by PSSg Anderson Videña, a PNP member currently assigned in GMA MPS, Cavite and detailed as a Patrol member, was traversing Congressional Road from Barangay Poblacion 3 heading towards Barangay Memije when he accidentally sideswiped the pedestrians who were walking along the aforementioned road. 

As a result, victims sustained minor injuries and were immediately brought to Carsigma Hospital located at Barangay Poblacion 1, GMA, Cavite for treatment. The driver and vehicle involved are now under the custody of GMA MPS and pertinent documents are being prepared for filing of appropriate charges.

Meanwhile, PRO4A Regional Director Brig Gen Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr have instructed the Provincial Director of Cavite PPO to investigate properly and ensure that there will be no cover up, no whitewash and swift justice should be rendered in this case. He also instructed them to extend assistance to the victims. 

“We will not let this kind of incident tarnish our efforts to build and promote a responsive and reputable police force.,” Nartatez said.
