A Japanese business executive survived an attempt Thursday on his life by motorcycle-riding men in General Trias City in Cavite province.

The Cavite police reported that Osamo Yamada, 52, a resident of Imus City, was standing next to his car in the parking lot of a restaurant in Barangay Bacao 1 when two men aboard a motorcycle approached him and opened fire around 11:30 a.m.

Yamada was hit on the right side of his abdomen. The duo fled after the shooting.

Yamada was taken to the Divine Grace Hospital in the city.

The Japanese, an official of a company engaged in electronics, is now in stable condition, police said.

The report described the driver of the green Yamaha Mio motorcycle as wearing an orange upper garment, a uniform of a famous delivery service company, while his back-rider was sporting black long-sleeved clothes.

The police are investigating the incident further to unmask the motorcycle riders and establish the motive behind the assassination attempt.

Colonel Christopher Olazo, Cavite police officer-in-charge, ordered all police stations in the province to conduct a dragnet operation for their arrest.
